Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi – Ha Giang – Bac Sum Pass – Quan Ba Heaven Gate – Nam Dam – Lung Tam – Yen Minh

Your Ha Giang adventure begins with a comfortable journey from Hanoi to Ha Giang. For travelers who prefer to maximize their time in the mountains, an overnight VIP sleeper bus can be arranged, arriving in Ha Giang early in the morning. A private limousine transfer is also available for travelers who prefer a more comfortable daytime journey. Upon arrival in Ha Giang, meet your female-led tour team and begin your journey by open-air Jeep.

The first mountain section takes you toward Bac Sum Pass, where the landscape changes dramatically as the road climbs into the mountains. Continue to Quan Ba Heaven Gate for spectacular views over the surrounding valleys and the famous Twin Mountains. After enjoying the scenery, continue to Nam Dam Village, a traditional Dao community known for its distinctive clay houses and peaceful mountain setting. Take time to walk through the village and learn more about the architecture, traditions and daily life of the community before enjoying lunch in the Quan Ba area.

After lunch, continue through beautiful valleys and winding mountain roads toward Lung Tam. Visit a traditional handicraft family and discover the process of weaving and creating handmade textiles, offering a closer look at the cultural heritage of the region. Continue toward Yen Minh using quieter back roads, passing mountain villages, valleys and scenic viewpoints that are often missed by travelers following the main route. Arrive in Yen Minh, check into your accommodation and enjoy dinner before your first night in the Ha Giang mountains.

Day 2: Yen Minh – Tham Ma Slope – Sung La – Lung Cu – Lo Lo Chai – Hmong King Palace – Dong Van

After breakfast, continue deeper into the Dong Van Karst Plateau by open-air Jeep. The morning route takes you toward the spectacular Tham Ma Slope, famous for its dramatic winding road and distinctive curves through the limestone mountains. Stop at scenic viewpoints for photographs before continuing toward Sung La Valley, one of the most beautiful valleys in the region. Take time to appreciate the traditional mountain landscape and learn more about the history and cultures of the communities living in this remote area.

Continue toward Lung Cu, the northernmost point of Vietnam and home to the famous Lung Cu Flag Pole. From the viewpoint, enjoy sweeping views across the surrounding mountains and border landscape. Continue to Lo Lo Chai Village, home to the Lo Lo ethnic community, where traditional clay houses and distinctive cultural traditions create a fascinating atmosphere. Enjoy lunch before continuing your journey through the dramatic mountain scenery toward Dong Van.

In the afternoon, visit the historic Hmong King Palace, an important architectural and cultural site connected with the Vuong family and the history of the Hmong people in Ha Giang. After exploring the palace, continue to Dong Van Town and check into your accommodation. Enjoy dinner and free time to relax or explore the peaceful streets of Dong Van in the evening before spending the second night of your journey.

Day 3: Dong Van – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Nho Que River – Meo Vac – Mau Due – Du Gia

After breakfast, leave Dong Van and begin one of the most spectacular sections of the entire journey along the famous Happiness Road toward Ma Pi Leng Pass. This legendary mountain pass is surrounded by dramatic cliffs and deep valleys and is widely regarded as one of the most breathtaking mountain roads in Vietnam. Stop at viewpoints along the route to admire the enormous limestone landscape and enjoy panoramic views from the open-air Jeep.

Continue toward the viewpoints overlooking the Nho Que River, where the river winds through a dramatic gorge far below the mountains. Take time to enjoy the scenery and photograph the spectacular landscape before continuing toward Meo Vac. Travel through more remote mountain roads toward Mau Due, stopping for lunch along the way. As the journey continues, the landscape becomes quieter and more rugged, with traditional villages, mountain fields and towering limestone peaks surrounding the road.

From Meo Vac, continue along mountain trails toward Du Gia Village. This beautiful valley is home to several ethnic communities and offers a different cultural atmosphere from the high mountain towns visited earlier in the journey. Arrive at a traditional Tay family homestay, where you can experience the warm hospitality of the community, enjoy dinner and spend a relaxing evening in the peaceful mountain surroundings.

Day 4: Du Gia – Du Gia Waterfall – Duong Thuong Valley – Thai An Road – Bac Me – Ha Giang – Hanoi

After breakfast, begin the final day with a visit to the beautiful Du Gia Waterfall. Surrounded by mountains and greenery, the waterfall offers a peaceful start to the morning before you say goodbye to your host family. Continue the journey by Jeep toward Duong Thuong Valley, following quieter mountain roads and enjoying views of dramatic limestone formations, green valleys and terraced rice fields along the way.

Continue along Thai An Road and cross the mountain landscapes toward Bac Me. This section provides another opportunity to experience the quieter side of Ha Giang, with fewer tourists, traditional villages and beautiful countryside. Stop along the way to enjoy the scenery and take photographs before continuing toward Ha Giang City. The route offers a final taste of the spectacular landscapes that have defined your four-day journey.
