Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi – Ha Giang – Bac Sum Pass – Heaven Gate – Lung Tam – Yen Minh – Hmong King Palace – Dong Van

Your journey begins with a comfortable transfer from Hanoi toward Ha Giang. If you prefer to travel overnight, an evening sleeper-bus option can be arranged, allowing you to arrive in Ha Giang early and begin your Jeep adventure without losing valuable daytime sightseeing. Upon arrival, meet your experienced female-led team and board your open-air Jeep. The journey soon leaves Ha Giang City behind and climbs into the mountains toward Bac Sum Pass, where spectacular scenery begins to unfold.

Continue through the mountains toward Heaven Gate and stop to enjoy panoramic views over Tam Son and the famous Twin Mountains. The route then leads through beautiful valleys toward Lung Tam and Yen Minh, with opportunities to see terraced fields, limestone peaks and traditional mountain villages along the way. Enjoy lunch during the journey before continuing deeper into the Dong Van Karst Plateau, one of northern Vietnam’s most remarkable geological and cultural landscapes.

In the afternoon, travel through the dramatic scenery of the plateau toward Dong Van. Along the route, pass through mountain roads and traditional villages before visiting the historic Hmong King Palace in Sa Phin, an important cultural site connected with the history of the Hmong people. Continue to Dong Van Town, check into your accommodation and enjoy dinner. In the evening, you can relax or take a short walk around the peaceful mountain town before spending your first night in Ha Giang.

Day 2: Dong Van – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Nho Que River Viewpoint – Meo Vac – Mau Due – Du Gia

After breakfast, begin one of the most spectacular days of the journey as you leave Dong Van and travel along the famous Happiness Road toward Ma Pi Leng Pass. This legendary mountain pass is surrounded by towering limestone cliffs and deep valleys, creating some of the most dramatic scenery in northern Vietnam. Stop at carefully selected viewpoints to admire the mountains and take photographs before continuing along the winding mountain roads.

Continue toward viewpoints overlooking the magnificent Nho Que River, where the deep turquoise river cuts through the dramatic limestone landscape far below. After enjoying the scenery, continue toward Meo Vac and the remote mountain roads around Mau Due. Stop for lunch and take time to appreciate the quieter side of Ha Giang, where traditional villages, mountain fields and rugged landscapes replace the busier tourist areas.

In the afternoon, leave the main loop and continue toward Du Gia through beautiful back roads and mountain valleys. The scenery becomes increasingly peaceful as you travel through remote communities and winding roads toward Du Gia Village. Arrive at a traditional Tay family homestay, where you can experience the warm atmosphere of mountain life, enjoy dinner and learn more about the culture and traditions of the community before spending the night in Du Gia.

Day 3: Du Gia – Duong Thuong Valley – Terraced Rice Paddies – Bac Me – Ha Giang – Hanoi

After breakfast, say goodbye to your host family and continue your final day by open-air Jeep. Rather than simply returning along the same road, today’s route takes you through quieter mountain roads toward Duong Thuong Valley. The journey offers beautiful views of limestone mountains, green valleys and terraced rice fields, providing a completely different perspective of Ha Giang compared with the previous two days.

Continue through the countryside toward Bac Me, passing through peaceful villages and mountain landscapes that remain far from the busiest tourist routes. Along the way, there are opportunities to stop for photographs, enjoy the scenery and observe everyday life in the mountain communities. The road gradually leads you back toward Ha Giang City, while the spectacular landscapes of the northern mountains remain a constant part of the journey.
