Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Cu Chi Tunnels – Ben Dinh
Your full-day adventure begins at approximately 8:00 AM with pickup from your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. Meet your female-led tour team and climb into the open-air Jeep before leaving the city and heading toward the Cu Chi countryside. The journey provides an opportunity to see the changing landscape as modern Ho Chi Minh City gradually gives way to greener suburban and rural areas.
On the way to Cu Chi, you may stop at a Vietnamese handicraft village where you can see traditional Vietnamese art and handicraft products. Depending on traffic and local conditions, there may also be a short stop for refreshments and a restroom break before continuing toward Ben Dinh.
Arrive at the Ben Dinh section of the Cu Chi Tunnels and begin your historical experience. Watch a short introductory presentation about the Vietnam War and the tunnel system before following your guide into the surrounding area to learn how the tunnels were constructed and how they were used.
Day 1: Cu Chi Tunnels – Underground Life – War History
Continue exploring the Ben Dinh tunnel network with your guide. Learn how people lived underground, how different sections of the tunnel system were connected and how communities attempted to survive during years of conflict.
You will have the opportunity to experience a section of the tunnels yourself by crawling through the underground passages. This provides a more direct understanding of how narrow and challenging the tunnel environment could be.
After exploring the tunnels, take a break and enjoy boiled tapioca, a simple food associated with the wartime tunnel experience. Your guide will share stories about life during the war before you continue to lunch at a restaurant near the Cu Chi area.
Day 1: Cu Chi – Reunification Palace – Central Post Office
After lunch, leave Cu Chi and return toward central Ho Chi Minh City by open-air Jeep. The journey back provides a comfortable break after the morning’s historical exploration before beginning the city sightseeing section of the tour.
Your first major city landmark is Reunification Palace, one of the most important historical buildings in Ho Chi Minh City. Originally constructed during the French colonial period as Norodom Palace, the site later became the presidential palace of South Vietnam and played a significant role in the final stages of the Vietnam War.
Continue to the Saigon Central Post Office, one of the city’s most recognizable French colonial buildings. Built in the late 19th century, the building combines European architectural features with elements reflecting the cultural setting of Saigon. Take time to explore the exterior and interior and see the historic maps displayed inside.
Day 1: Notre Dame Cathedral – War Remnants Museum – Hotel
Continue to Notre Dame Cathedral, located directly opposite the Central Post Office. The cathedral is an important architectural landmark in central Ho Chi Minh City, although restoration work may affect access to the interior. Enjoy the exterior architecture and surrounding area before continuing the tour.
The final major stop is the War Remnants Museum, one of the most significant museums in Ho Chi Minh City for understanding the Vietnam War and its consequences. Explore the museum’s exhibits and preserved historical materials at your own pace while your guide provides context about Vietnam’s modern history.
After completing the city sightseeing, return by Jeep to your hotel or agreed drop-off point in Ho Chi Minh City. Your full-day Cu Chi and Saigon Jeep adventure ends here, combining wartime history, cultural landmarks and a memorable open-air journey through southern Vietnam.

Explore Cu Chi by Jeep
The journey to Cu Chi is part of the experience. Traveling by open-air Jeep allows you to watch the landscape change as you leave the busy streets of Ho Chi Minh City and travel toward the countryside.
The Jeep provides an adventurous atmosphere while still allowing you to travel comfortably. You can enjoy the fresh air, see the countryside around you and stop for photographs when appropriate.
This style of transportation also makes the Cu Chi experience feel different from a conventional coach tour.
Discover Ben Dinh Cu Chi Tunnels
The Ben Dinh section is part of the extensive Cu Chi tunnel network that was used during the Vietnam War.
During your visit, you will learn about the construction and organization of the underground system and how people used the tunnels for shelter, communication and daily life.
Your guide will explain the challenges faced by people living underground before giving you the opportunity to experience a section of the tunnels yourself.
Experience Life Underground
One of the most memorable parts of the tour is entering a section of the tunnels.
The passages are narrow and can feel challenging, giving you a better understanding of the physical conditions experienced by people who lived and worked underground.
The tunnel experience is optional for travelers who prefer not to crawl through the passages. You can remain above ground and continue exploring the surrounding historical areas with your guide.
Taste Boiled Tapioca
After exploring the tunnels, enjoy boiled tapioca, a simple food associated with the wartime experience at Cu Chi.
Your guide can explain the role of this basic food and share stories about the difficult conditions in which people lived during the war.
It is a small but meaningful part of the experience, connecting the historical story with everyday survival.
Reunification Palace
Reunification Palace is one of the most important historical landmarks in Ho Chi Minh City.
The building has a complex history beginning with the French colonial period and continuing through the political and military events of the 20th century.
The palace’s distinctive architecture and historical significance make it an essential stop for travelers interested in understanding modern Vietnam.
Saigon Central Post Office
The Central Post Office is one of the city’s most famous examples of French colonial architecture.
Construction took place between 1886 and 1891, and the building continues to function as a working post office today.
Inside, visitors can see historic maps and architectural details that reflect the long history of Saigon.
Notre Dame Cathedral
Notre Dame Cathedral is located directly beside the Central Post Office and is another important symbol of central Ho Chi Minh City.
The cathedral features Roman and Gothic architectural influences and has long been one of the city’s most photographed landmarks.
Because restoration work may restrict access, the visit focuses on the exterior and surrounding area.
War Remnants Museum
The War Remnants Museum is one of the most significant historical museums in Ho Chi Minh City.
Its collections document aspects of the Vietnam War and its aftermath through photographs, artifacts and preserved historical materials.
The museum provides an opportunity to reflect on Vietnam’s modern history and better understand the events that shaped the country.
Best Time to Join the Tour
The tour departs at approximately 8:00 AM and runs throughout the day.
Starting in the morning allows sufficient time to visit Cu Chi before returning to Ho Chi Minh City for the afternoon sightseeing program.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes. Comfortable footwear is particularly important if you plan to enter the tunnel sections.
Important Notes
The Cu Chi Tunnels involve walking on uneven ground and, for travelers who choose to participate, crawling through narrow underground passages.
The tunnel experience is optional. Travelers who do not feel comfortable entering the tunnels can explore the above-ground areas instead.
The exact sequence of stops may be adjusted according to traffic, weather, site operating conditions and local circumstances.
Please inform Vietnam Women Travel in advance about food allergies, dietary restrictions or mobility concerns so we can make appropriate arrangements where possible.
Extend Your Ho Chi Minh City Experience
If you have more time in southern Vietnam, Vietnam Women Travel can arrange additional private experiences including Saigon city Jeep tours, Saigon street food tours, Chinatown experiences, Mekong Delta excursions and multi-day southern Vietnam journeys.
We can also design a complete private Vietnam itinerary beginning in Hanoi and continuing through central and southern Vietnam.
