Hanoi Jeep Tour: Hidden Gems, Culture, History & Backstreets Led By Women
Discover a different side of Hanoi by vintage Jeep with Vietnamese women tour leaders. This 3-hour city experience combines Hanoi’s famous landmarks with hidden backstreets, historic neighborhoods, beautiful lakes, cultural sites and everyday city life.
Travel through the French Quarter, visit the Hanoi Opera House, pass the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, explore Thanh Nien Street and West Lake, visit Tran Quoc Pagoda, discover Hoang Hoa Tham Street and hidden alleys, then finish with a traditional Vietnamese Egg Coffee.
Part 1 – Hanoi Opera House, French Quarter & Hidden Backstreets
Our tour starts with pickup from your hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter. Meet your female tour leader and Jeep driver, receive a short safety briefing and begin your journey through the historic center of Hanoi.
The first stop is the Hanoi Opera House, one of the city’s most important architectural landmarks. Built during the French colonial period, the Opera House reflects the strong European influence that shaped this part of Hanoi.
From the French Quarter, we continue away from the main tourist streets and into Hanoi’s backstreets. Drive through narrow lanes, small residential streets, old houses, schools, markets and busy neighborhood areas. You will see how different parts of Hanoi exist side by side, from historic buildings and traditional homes to modern apartment blocks and busy city streets.
This section gives you an opportunity to see Hanoi beyond the usual sightseeing route and experience the changing character of the city from the comfort of an open-air Jeep.
Part 2 – Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Thanh Nien Street, West Lake & Tran Quoc Pagoda
Continue to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum area, one of the most important historical and cultural areas in Hanoi. Your female tour leader will introduce the history of the site and explain its importance to modern Vietnamese history.
The Jeep then takes you along Thanh Nien Street, one of Hanoi’s most scenic roads. The road runs between West Lake and Truc Bach Lake and is known for its peaceful atmosphere, mature trees and beautiful views.
Continue to Tran Quoc Pagoda, located on a small island beside West Lake. With more than 1,500 years of history, the pagoda is one of Hanoi’s most important Buddhist landmarks. Take time to admire the ancient architecture, peaceful lake setting and surrounding gardens.
As we continue around West Lake, you will see another side of Hanoi, where quiet lakeside streets contrast with the busy atmosphere of the city center.
Part 3 – Hoang Hoa Tham Street, Hidden Alleys & Hanoi’s History
The third part of the tour takes you deeper into Hanoi’s lesser-known streets.
Drive along Hoang Hoa Tham Street, famous for its plants, flowers and bonsai gardens. The street offers a very different atmosphere from Hanoi’s busy commercial areas, with greenery, traditional houses and small businesses lining the road.
From here, continue through narrow backstreets and hidden alleys. See residential neighborhoods, small local shops, old buildings and scenes from everyday life. These roads offer a closer look at how Hanoi has developed while still preserving many traditional areas.
Along the route, visit the B-52 historical site and learn more about Hanoi during the war. Your tour leader will share the background of the site and explain how the city has changed over the decades.
The Jeep ride continues through different parts of Hanoi, from quiet residential streets to areas filled with modern buildings and high-rise apartments. This is where you can clearly see the contrast between old Hanoi and the rapidly developing capital of today.
Part 4 – Vietnamese Egg Coffee & Return To Your Hotel
After exploring Hanoi’s historic and hidden streets, stop at a traditional coffee shop for a Vietnamese Egg Coffee.
Egg Coffee is one of Hanoi’s most famous drinks, combining strong Vietnamese coffee with a smooth, creamy egg topping. Enjoy your coffee and take a short break while your female tour leader introduces you to this special part of Hanoi’s food and coffee culture.
After the coffee experience, return to the Jeep and enjoy the final ride through Hanoi.
We then drop you back at your hotel in Hanoi Old Quarter, bringing your 3-hour Hanoi Jeep experience to an end.
