Why Take a Full-Day Hanoi Jeep Tour?
Hanoi is a city of contrasts. Within the same day, you can travel from historic streets and government landmarks to peaceful rice paddies, traditional villages and agricultural farms. This Hanoi Jeep Tour Full Day brings these different landscapes together in one carefully designed journey.
The open-air Jeep allows you to travel beyond the main tourist roads and discover places that many visitors never see. You will pass through narrow village alleys, countryside roads, rice fields and Red River landscapes while learning about Vietnamese culture, agriculture and everyday life. Later, the tour returns to Hanoi to explore the city’s history, architecture, lakes, markets and hidden corners.
Part 1: Long Bien Bridge, Red River Delta & Rural Villages
Your Hanoi Full-Day Jeep Tour begins at 8:00 AM with pickup and a journey toward the Red River. One of the first highlights is a view of Long Bien Bridge, the historic structure stretching across the Red River and connecting the Hoan Kiem and Long Bien areas.
From the city, the Jeep continues into the countryside, where the landscape changes dramatically. Drive through traditional villages, small alleys and peaceful countryside roads surrounded by green rice paddies. Along the way, visit a village with a temple that is more than 1,000 years old and learn about the history and culture of traditional Vietnamese villages.
Continue through the rice paddies and stop to learn about rice cultivation and the agricultural culture of the Red River Delta. The open-air Jeep gives you a unique view of the countryside, with fresh air, green fields and rural scenery all around you.
Part 2: Rural Market, Co Loa Ancient City & Family Farm
Continue along the rice-paddy roads to a rural market, where you can observe Vietnamese daily life and see fresh food and other products being sold by local residents. The bustling market provides an authentic look at everyday commerce outside central Hanoi.
The Jeep then travels along quiet countryside roads toward Co Loa, an ancient city with a history dating back to 257 BC. Explore the historic area and learn about its important place in Vietnam’s early history.
After Co Loa, continue through the peaceful countryside to a hidden family farm located among the fields. Meet the family, see how they live and work on their farm, and learn about the cultivation of tropical fruits. Depending on the season and the family’s activities that day, you may also see traditional rice wine being prepared. Guests have the opportunity to interact with the host, pick fresh fruit and enjoy it directly from the farm.
Part 3: Hanoi City, Railway Area, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum & West Lake
After exploring the countryside, return toward Hanoi by a different route along the Red River bank, enjoying more views of villages and rural landscapes before stopping for lunch.
In the afternoon, the Jeep takes you back into the heart of Hanoi. Visit the railway area and see the narrow houses built extremely close to the train tracks, offering a fascinating glimpse into how residents live and work alongside one of the city’s most unusual urban landscapes.
Continue toward the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum area, where you can see the Presidential Palace, Parliament House and government offices from a viewpoint. Your guide will introduce the history and stories behind this important part of Hanoi.
The journey continues through the Botanical Garden and small residential alleys to Huu Hiep Lake, where you can see the remains of a B52 aircraft shot down during the 1972 bombing raids of Hanoi. Continue to West Lake, one of Hanoi’s largest lakes, before traveling along Thanh Nien Street to Truc Bach Lake and the monument associated with John McCain.
Part 4: Markets, Red River Island, Farms, Egg Coffee & Long Bien Bridge
The final part of your Hanoi Jeep adventure takes you to An Duong Market, a bustling market where residents shop for fresh vegetables, food and everyday necessities. After exploring the market, continue along the riverside and onto Red River Island, a hidden part of Hanoi where farming continues among the city.
Visit a village on the island and meet a Vietnamese family to learn more about their daily lives. Continue through banana farms and green vegetable gardens before visiting a kumquat farm. Kumquat trees are traditionally associated with Tet, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, and are valued as symbols of luck, health, wealth, fertility and peace.
After a full day of exploring Hanoi and the countryside, relax with a cup of Vietnamese Egg Coffee, one of Hanoi’s most famous coffee specialties. Finally, return to the historic Long Bien Bridge for the last part of the journey before heading back into Hanoi.
